OD Turning
In OD TURN mode the tool-bit cuts from the end of the stock down the "Z" length and repeats until the desired diameter has beenSetting "X Measure" turned.

1. Set the "X MEASURE" and "Z FACE" by touching off on the side and the face of the stock and pressing the "X DIA MESUR" and "Z FACE MESUR"Setting "Z Face" buttons.
The diameter of the stock has been typed (Bottom Left in Blue), and will be entered when the "Write/Enter" button has been pushed.
2. Enter the remaining fields. 

3. The "DIA TO CUT" is the diameter the stock is to be when the operation is complete.

4. The "Z DIMENSION" is the length you want the work-piece turned.

5. Hold down the "Dead-Man" button and press "CYCLE START" to begin cutting.
Press "CYCLE START" to activate the lathe program and start the tool procedure. Hold down the "Dead-Man" button until the lathe procedure is complete.


BORING / ID TURN
ID TURN" is used in Boring internal holes larger.  The tool moves into the pre-drilled hole, enlarging the hole as it enters, until it reaches the programmed depth.  One main difference in programming this procedure is that the "X MEASURE" is taken off of the inside diameter of your pre-drilled hole.  As with any boring procedure, the "Z DIMENSION" cannot be deeper than the flat bottom of the pre-drilled hole.

Select "ID TURN" and press "WRITE / ENTER".1. From the "TURN / FACE MODE" select "ID TURN" by pressing "WRITE/ENTER".
Set "X MEASURE" by touching the boring tool off on the inside face. 1. Set "X MEASURE" by touching off the boring tool to the inside hole and press "X DIA MESUR".

Set Z by touching off to the face and pressing "Z FACE MESUR". 2. Set "Z FACE" by bringing the boring tool up to the outside face of the stock and pressing "Z FACE MESUR".

3. Enter the remaining fields.  "Z DIMENSION" is how deep past "Z FACE" the stock will be cut.
The "Dead-Man" button hangs on the side of the control panel.4. Take down the "Dead-Man" button hanging on the side of the Control Panel.

5. Press the "Dead-Man" button and press "CYCLE START" to begin the operation.
6. The "Dead Stop" button is not found on most HAAS TL-1 lathes.  Releasing it during operation will stop the lathe.Press "CYCLE START" to activate the lathe program and start the tool procedure.Hold down the "Dead-Man" button until the lathe procedure is complete.
